What next !!

One of my friends gave GMAT last week and scored 740.So these days both of us are trying to find answers to some of the most common questions. Though both of us are trying to find answers for him, I ask the same questions to myself and don’t get much of satisfactory answers:
1. Why do you want to do an MBA?
Ahmmmm...Ummmm...just because everyone around is doing it, or may be I don’t have an appetite to continue in a technical line for all my life...or I want to shift from software to some other field..or may be I have reached a point where I feel that I can not grow more if I continue staying technical and MBA might be a jumpstart...
I don’t have a definitive anwser..it could be all of the above or none of the above or may be a mix..
2. What do you plan to do after MBA?
Hmmmm….consulting..marketing..sales…research..finance..retail..well I think for most of these I don’t even understand what they actually involve. I think I just understand what they mean but if I have to write even five lines for each of them, I am at loss of words/thoughts/ideas…
3. How about the school selection, financing MBA etc.
If at any stage I think for an MBA, I will have to decide on some matters of vital importance to me...my family planning, my current job, my wife’s career, my responsibilities to my family…etc...
So for the next few weeks, both of us, me and my friend are going to find answers to some of the questions above.
If there is anybody reading out there and can point us in the right direction, it would be great!!

The life so far

I started working for a software company over 4 years back. They had hired us directly from the college. There is no bigger joy than getting a good campus placemenet. Its always like all the hardwork one does in 10th board exams,12th entrance and then the enginnering has become successful.
26 of us were picked up from the college and taken to Trivandrum,a distant place in south India, for almost 3 months for initial training.
Although I had been living in hostels for over 6 years then, it was for the 1st time,I was going so far from home.
They used to have a mid-term exam. The company had offices all across the country. It was largely on the basis of midterm exam that individuals were allcated to the offices.
I had always wanted to go to Bangalore, the software capital of the nation.Luckily I was ranked in top 4 of my 400+ strngth batch. It was almost sure tht I will get the location of my choice. Now I had to fill in 3 options.I was talking to my mom over the phone and filling my choices. My first choice was Bangalore, 2nd as hyderabad.
I still remember my mom was almost into tears, she asked me to fill atleast the 3rd choice as Delhi. But I was too inconsiderate! I filled some other location as 3rd option.
I got to Bangalore..continued with the same company for a while..worked hard..got another job and all..from a professional standpoint,my choice of Bangalore has given me everything I wanted,a good job, high rank, worldwide travel..anything one would desire for a successfull career. But it also has taken away a lot from me..
I still grieve if I could go back in time and change my 1st choice to Delhi.
Ever since I am stuck in a far away place from home.I cant go back....
life is moving on..getting farther from my home with every passing moment.
I miss everything I left back,my family,my town, the simplicity in life, the sweet memories of home...
cant I just break all the barriers and go back...

at this point, i remember the song from chak de india "maula mere le le meri jaan"..

Why to Blog?

This is my first blog ever! I am wondering why should I blog? Is that just because everyone around does? or is it something that I want to share with the world?

Alright, start with some basic stuff..who am I, what do I do etc.
I am an engineering graduate, did my BE in Electronics & Communication, something I could never develop an interest in. But I had passion for computers..which has eventually taken me to the job of a software engineer in Bangalore.
I have been married for over two years. My wife is in IT too.

This much for the first post.
Lets see how far it goes!
